I have to admit to getting really excited when I was listed as a "b" list Blogebrity but in the end it's all about who you touch and who touches you. Finding readers is important, but connecting with those you do have is vital. Without twitter, pownce, facebook & some of the other social media it's much harder for me at least to keep feeding and nurturing those vital connections I do make. The signal-to-noise ratio is so high on the series of tubes that the so-called "A-list" new-media types have their own gravity. And much like heavenly objects, the larger objects will have more gravity and steal satellites from other bodies. As such it becomes a vicious circle - "A-list" blogger is popular because people go there and allow said "A-lister" to become bigger and more popular... It always humors me that the people who preach "the long tail" are the ones least in need of its existence and least affected by the nature of it... because they are the gravity well of the system.
