Good points Rich. Yeah it's so ironic to me how many claim marketing is a conversation and yet attempt to monopolize or bury us with spam or bacn... You're a musician, I know you understand and appreciate the value of choosing the right notes over a lot of notes and of the silence between them. Some of our new media teammates need to learn more of that or just learn it sounds better when they are called experts by others, justifiably or otherwise.

I was teaching classes today. Fourth grade students. They asked how long I had been teaching safety. I proclaimed "almost 18 years now." A student remarked that I "must be an expert."

I corrected her... "No, I'm a long-time student of safety. I'm always learning more about what it is I share with you. And, I'm always amazed at the things that people do. Every day I learn something new about how people hurt themselves and have to figure out new ways to approach teaching them how NOT to do so."

Some of us have only been in social networking or new media for a very short time. And, overall, the concept and experiences here are relatively new. How can ANY of us be experts? We're all learning and experiencing together. What comes next may indeed be a new surprise or concept to absolutely turn the tables on everything we thought we knew. Experts? Meh.
