Whoo Carrie what timing, right before Twitter went down. Yeah you have to work it and add people to get to a point of deeper usability, just don't wanna go overboard and have so many that you're following that it looks like textual waterfall. Ideally the people you follow should follow you back and vice verse but...

Well done Mark. I like your analogy of Twitter being the Cheers of the Web. So true so true. I'm a baby Twitter-head but, in addition to becoming more and more interested in the day to-day interactions occurring on Twitter, I can also see the long term benefits of using Twitter as a media tool and for keeping in touch with my social networking contacts such as yourself.

This rings from our discussion the other day.
There is always room for quality content. Like you I am currently watching the herd of sheeple move from one form to another. What I think is going to happen is the people who take the time to master whatever form of media they choose. When people do that then the quality of content will go up.
Something to keep in mind is that all of this is an alternative form of entertainment. With that being said. The mainstream is slowing down (At least States side) and as long as all of the SocNet stuff is looked at as alternative entertainment and not the tools that they have the potential to be then that is all that they will be.

Sorry for the unformed train of thought here. This just all flew off the top of my pointy little head.
