A.Connector Cast #10

Well we made it to the dime-and this episode features some really dynamic individuals.
# Connection-Len Edgerly. Met on Ustream test, followed on Twitter and now am subscribing to video blog and enjoying his video perspective and output
# Connection-Jim Long(New Media Jim) . Met via mutual Twitter friends. He was featured in excellent 2 part video by Len Edgerly. Jim says he is a “new media soul in an old media body.” Jim works as camera man for NBC news. Very cool dude and very cool that someone from his background/profession really embraces new media. Here is Crafty Nation social network link.
# Conventional marketers starting to look at widgets as web 2.0 style replacement for old banner ad. Must offer some utility with branding. I made a similar suggestion in discussion with China Ogilvy friends.
# Moshang-Asian Variations viral campaign going well, check out music here and progress reports here
# Special guest Connector contributor Mur Lafferty. What can I say about Mur? Well she is incredibly natural at expressing deep and meaningful things in an effortlessness kind of way-truly a new media treasure and an emerging new media “brand.” Mur’s Twitter

A.Connector Cast #9

*RSS feeds wants to be free-don’t lock them up or water them down-my experience with Freakonomics, good conversation on Neville’s blog here. Learn the culture and embrace it if you want to be embraced back. True Hoop an example of good transition to big media site that maintained good faith with original readers.
Update: Here is an excellent post by Scott Karp that addresses rss feed issue perfectly. Can you win betting against the internet?

*New Media marketing success stories: Hugh Mcleod mentioned in Business Week here for Stormhoek, Twitter as human powered search, JC Hutchins successful campaign to reach listeners resulting in a writing deal. Mention new Asian Variations free web album-participate in viral marketing campaign.

*Twitter is like a news teletype or the local bar; ephemeral and virtually live(the way I view it) Facebook like the newspaper.

Hope you enjoyed the episode-feel free to leave comments on blog, by email or Voice mail and help continue the conversation.

A.Connector Cast#8

Today’s cast covers the following:
*Sniping/Link-baiting/Intolerance-one way to deal with social network or web 2.0 burnout is clicking OFF
*Maintaining an open mind-be willing to consider divergent points of view-you might learn something whether you agree or not
*Guest Interview-Eric Rice drops in and chats about acting/reacting in the social media space and trying to keep it “REAL”

Agree/disagree let me know via comments here, voice or e-mail. My video talks on Facebook here.

A.Connector Cast#7

In this episode I covering the following topics:
# A-List thing, reality check people reaching out
# Social networks-great democracy enabler of web 2.0 communications-allows talking to people like people instead of this blogger or vlogger or CEO of such and such a company.
# Pownce great targeted file sharing messaging system.
#Missing Pages Premiere in SL

BTW-I think I ranted a little in this episode. Did I? :) As always feedback is welcome, pick a method or just cup your hands and holler.

A.Connector Cast#6

Facebook A.Connector Group survey question: Hi fellow connectors I’m curious. When you connect people-how important is the “thank you” from one or more of the parties you connect?
Howard Greenstein
Maia Whitaker Edward Vielmetti Jack Hosley Jim Stanger Rich Palmer Paul Swansen Derek Mehraban
Amazingly I got responses from over 13% of the group. This is very novel to me. As a podcaster/blogger my experience has been only a small fraction, or tip of the iceberg respond. No complaints-I love hearing what people think and have to say.

A Facebook application observation expressed via an old saying. Share some Chinese cultural observations.

New Find: 1938 Media-Loren Feldman. Anti-Social Media a good place to start. This guy is a riot. Some rough language so be warned.

Food for thought-Are you good at receiving thank yous and compliments?

Social Business Interaction/Cast #5

I talk about my experiences with Muhal Richard Abrams founder of AACM, excellent musician connector to patriarch degree. I mention a survey I took for the Convergence of Social and Business Networking group on Facebook. Talk about mixing socializing and business and some about Taiwanese business culture. Question: Are your telephone habits changing in light of Skype and other social media tools?

Now, this show would be so cool with your contribution.

What does being a connector mean to you? Who are some connectors that have influenced you? How do you connect best with others?

2-Way Connecting/Cast#4

Finally nipped FTP issues in the bud, and have uploaded this episode. I feel it is the best yet in terms of mix, great new bumpers from Rich Palmer and “Connector” contribution from one of the hardest working connectors in new media: CC Chapman. Thanks for all the feedback. Now CC has created some link labor for me so here we go: Eric Rice, Chris Brogan, Christopher Penn, Steve Garfield. Ahh , you’re right they are all from Boston…, borrowed *grin* from CC.

Now back to being serious-CC’s piece was excellent. One of the reasons I love this guy is his continuous seeking to be in touch with himself, which I know enables him to be a good connector for others. My topic touches on that as well and as serendipity would have it , pure coincidence. Oh wait I forgot-one more link from Bos…, no York, PA: John Swords

Connecting via Facebook/Family- AC3

In this episode of A.Connector Cast I talk about Facebook. Mention A.Connector group on there, related discussions. Include some comments/thoughts from group members Shireen and Ted. Talk about early connector influence of my Nana (grandmother) and some of her “sayings.” The connection of feeling welcome.

Connecting with Moshang’s music in the background.

Connecting with others in sales-A.Connector Cast #2

Hey everyone. Getting a little more in the rhythm and speaking of rhythm my buddy Moshang(Jean Marais) agreed for me to use his beautiful tune “gentle Beauty” from his Chill Dynasty disk as background music. Moshang and his music deserve your connecting.

Ok back on track. Today’s topic is connecting with people and somewhat emphasizing in sales context. Mst of my life experience is in sales and marketing so that is a filter I know very well. Did I mention that life is sales, and sales is a conversation? :)

Big props to one of my mentors Zig Ziglar(please see link on right-hand sidebar).

Please listen and let me know hat you think. Please submit me you ideas on being a “connector.”In audio or text.
